Well said mate, defensive driving courses for all. I'd go even further than DDC for the UHPV licence. Why not hold it at Mallala, have a mandatory min of one instructor drive day a year to complete to hold the licence. Better yet, get the vehicles on a closed course skid pan and demonstrate competence.

You guys should check out the supercross/motocross in the US the Lawerance brothers are killing it at the moment.

Mate they need to learn how to even have control of a vehicle in the dry first, its not about teaching them how to drive, its about having control of the vehicle you are driving.

I agree, a DDC should be compulsory for everyone before they are allowed on the roads as it teaches you how to control a car if it gets into a slide or dangerous situation. This UHPVL is not going to prevent accidents at all.

Yep, someone in a Lambo turned the traction control off and killed someone and we now need ultra high powered licenses for these cars but everyday we have morons driving dangerously and more often killing people from their stupidity yet there’s no requirement for people to do any sort of defensive driving.

The government sought consultation and were recommended to include a defensive driving course as part of the UHP licence test - they chose not to. After you enrol for the test you have to log back in, do a 3 part 'test' which then unlocks a key to do the final test. When you finish that you are approved for the UHP licence. It is absolutely so the government can tick a box and appear to be doing something, with the bonus of making some extra revenue. It's great for PR and to win some votes, but does absolutely nothing to actually solve the problem.

Of course it is. I'd also go as far to say that if you're unable to drive without DAS in place on normal vehicles, then you shouldn't be behind the wheel.

F1.....not cheap and ticket sales for Melbourne GP is an absolute rort. The best grandstand tickets are held, and they'll tell you they're sold out, when in actual fact they're held onto for hotel packages. When they can't sell the hotel packages, they drip feed and release grandstand tickets to the public. Bad luck if you've already purchased crappy park passes. Not going back to Melbourne after the debacle of ticket sales, so heading off to Marina Bay in 2025 instead. Bring back the V10's also.

Yes. Modern tracks, particularly those designed by Hermann Tilke are boring. The cars are too big (longer than a range rover), too heavy and sound like vacuum cleaners. Power units have to last forever, so the wick is always turned down. Need to bring back fuel stops too as it adds a lot of strategy.
